Weekend Roundup: Tommy Bahama, Dia de San Juan Festival & Tribute To Johnny Cash

FOX 11's food and fun expert Mar Yvette searches the Los Angeles area for some of the best places to eat, drink, shop and have a great time. Featured guests then swarm our FOX Television Center parking lot every Thursday morning between 9am and 10am on Good Day LA, creating a big party as one jam-packed segment known as the Weekend Roundup!

Tommy Bahama

If you want to treat Dad to a fun, stylish and delicious Father's Day, head to Newport Beach or Laguna Beach and let Tommy Bahama's do all the work for you! The breezy restaurant is where you can give Dad everything from island-style BBQ and pina colada cake to those classic Tommy Bahama shirts.

 

Dia de San Juan Festival

Celebrate Dia de los Padres and Puerto Rico all at once at the annual San Juan Festival on Sunday. Held at the Queen Mary Events Park from 10am-7pm, the festivities include performances by Tito Nieves, bachata superstar A.B.O and the adorable Mambo Babies. There will also be vendors selling Puerto Rican food and souvenirs. Tickets are $27 in advance, $32 at the door, $15 for children ages 11-14, and free for kids 10 years old or younger.

 

Tribute to Johnny Cash Festival

Show your Dad a badass time with a day at Road Show Revival's Tribute to the Music of Johnny Cash. Thousands of fans are expected to converge at the Ventura County Fairgrounds on Saturday, June 15 for live performances on two stages with acts including Chris Shiflett, lead guitarist of Foo Fighters, with his alt-country side project The Dead Peasants. There's also a "Drive On" Car & Bike Show, Johnny Cash memorabilia, pin-up girl pageant,kids corral and vendors offering food and drinks. General admission tickets are $25 and discounted for active military personnel.

SPARC One-Year Celebration
Saturday, June 15, 11am-4pm

Listen up, animal lovers! Join me this Saturday afternoon at the Santa Paula Animal Rescue Center (SPARC), the first and only no-kill shelter in Ventura County, to celebrate their One Year Anniversary. This FREE party will have plenty of food, drinks, live music from Grupo Fantasia and giveaways. I'm so excited to be the master of ceremonies at this fun, fabulous and furry fete. Claremont Folk Music Festival
Saturday, June 15, 10am-9pm

It's a day of international folk music, folk art, education and community at the 30th annual Claremont Folk Music Festival at the beautiful Rancho Santa Fe Botanic Garden on Saturday, June 15. Take the family and get ready for a day of entertainment from folk artists (and beyond) including Henry Rollins (!!!) and Peter Harper (Ben Harper's bro). Tickets are $25 and free for kids 12 and under.

 

Pasadena Chalk Festival
Saturday, June 15 & Sunday, June 16

Treat good ol' Dad to some FREE art and fun at the 21st Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival where he can check out more than 600 murals on the pavement encompassing two city blocks at Paseo Colorado shopping center. Watch artists at work, enjoy live music, shop and eat during the two-day festival on Saturday and Sunday. There's also a Kid's Chalkland area where kids can make Father's Day cards and a Police Classic Car Show on Sunday from 10am to 3pm.  

 

Koroneburg Old World Renaissance Festival
Saturday, June 15 & Sunday, June 16

Go back in time to a hustling, bustling and kinda bawdy Bavarian village at this festival that celebrates all things Renaissance. Held over nine wooded acres at Crossroads Riverview Park in Corona, the annual event has full-contact jousts, sword fights, cannon shooting, archery, comedians, magicians, town criers, pirates, wenches, gigantic rocking horses, a dunk tank, petting farm and more. And don't forget the giant turkey legs, bratwurst, ribs, filet mignon, funnel cakes, hearty ale and fine wine. Online tickets $14 and $11 for kids 5-11 years old.
