OAKLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

The latest dig in the search for former Teamsters' boss Jimmy Hoffa continued on Tuesday in an Oakland Township field.

"One of the areas has been completed in terms of its being checked thoroughly. They're checking another area, which is still consistent with the information," said Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard.

On Monday, two slabs of concrete were found underground, which coincides with the statements made by Tony Zerilli.

"There is concrete back there," Bouchard said. "Obviously that was part of the original information, and it's consistent with that. They're working with that and around that area to determine, and this second area potentially is in line with that same information."

"I'm not going to get specifically into the information other than it's been reported that the concrete was relevant to the information and the search, and all of that is true."

This dig has created a major buzz, and many people in and around the area wanted to get up close and witness what they hope to be the solving of one of this country's biggest mysteries.

"I don't think he'll ever be found, personally, but I think that with a tip like Tony Zerilli, you kind of have to look into it," said one bystander. "I think it would be awesome if they found him."

Not everyone is as optimistic, though. The manpower and dollars the FBI is spending to conduct this dig is not an appropriate use of resources according to some.

"This is like a big operation. I can't believe that the FBI is playing into this guy's hand. It's almost embarrassing to see these guys. I mean, the effort and dollars that are going into this, it's just seems like just a waste," said another bystander.

Meanwhile, law enforcement was very clear on why they are conducting the search.

"We have to give it a good faith attempt. If it can bring closure, that's what we hope for. We'd like this to be closure for the community, for the family and for all involved," Bouchard said.

One thing crews did find on Tuesday was bones from animals. The dig ended early before 6:00 p.m. and will resume Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.
