Bolt falls from elevated tracks, shatters windshield

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

It sounded like a lightning bolt, except it was a metal bolt. The bolt and clasp apparently came loose and fell from the subway tracks above Boston Road in the Bronx and came crashing through the back windshield of Sonia Williams' Mercedes.

Sonia is a nurse and was heading to work when it happened. She said it sound like an explosion. She pulled over and called the MTA. Emergency crews showed up. So did an ambulance. But Sonia was okay, just shaken up. However, she wants the MTA to pay for the damage.

Sonia's back windshield will be repaired. Question is who will pay for it.

We reached out to the MTA. A spokesperson said the agency is looking into the incident.

The police department asked its twitter followers to share pictures of themselves with New York City police officers using the hashtag "myNYPD." Some did share nice pictures, but others not so much. Some of the first pictures posted showed regular citizens standing with very friendly looking police officers.
