Restaurants hiding inspection letter grades

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The Health Department has reportedly fined 1,356 restaurants for hiding their city inspection grade over the past year.

55 percent of cheating restaurants had received the worst grade of C, according to the Daily News.

Some of the owners of the restaurants cited hiding the grade as a better business approach than posting the low grade.

There is a $1,000 fine for not properly posting the grade while lost business due to a poor grade could turn away many customers costing more than $1,000 in lost revenue, according to the report.
