Elderly Couple Faces Fines For Having A Birdfeeder

Posted: Updated:

One little birdfeeder seems to have put an elderly New Jersey couple on the wrong side of the law.

Alfred and Annette Rockefeller are facing up to a $5,000 fine for violating an ordinance that outlaws feeding wildlife.

77-year old Alfred says that feeding the birds brings him great joy, but neighbors complain that his feathered visitors are leaving behind a mess.

Alfred Rockefeller says "it's like being in an art museum. You're really  looking at all of these paintings and it gives you a thrill to see all of the  different colors."

Annette Rockefeller says "If they don't want animals in the backyard. Let them  move to the city."

The couple plans to argue that their alleged bird feeder is actually an enclosed bird cage, which wouldn't violate the ordinance.
