Voltage reduced in Brooklyn

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

With temps soaring into the 90s for another day, Con Edison has reduced voltage to several neighborhoods in Brooklyn as crews work to repair equipment failures.

Voltage is reduced by 8 percent in Flatbush, Prospect Lefferts Gardens, Prospect Heights, Canarsie, Flatlands, Mill Basin, Old Mill Basin, Bergen Beach and Georgetown.

Con Edison is asking customers in these neighborhoods not to use washers, dryers, air conditioners and other energy-intensive equipment and to turn off lights and televisions when not needed.

Voltage in Coney Island, Seagate, Brighton Beach, Manhattan Beach and Sheepshead Bay has also been reduced, but Con Ed has not asked customers to reduce usage.
