T-shirts for sale on eBay call Gov. Brewer a backstabber

Posted: Updated:

Governor Jan Brewer has been at odds with members of her own party these past few months, taking some unpopular stances among republicans.

She pushed for expansion of Medicaid, something hard core conservatives opposed. And now she's backing the U.S. Senate's immigration plan -- a plan some republicans say is amnesty for those here illegally.

Now some are making a vivid and provocative statement on how they feel about Governor Brewer.

These T-shirts read -- "another conservative stabbed in the back by Jan Brewer."

These T-shirts are for sale on eBay. They are the brainchild of Tucson republican Roger Score. We spoke to him via Facetime.

He says Brewer and other republican lawmakers fit the definition of a backstabber.

"Somebody who deceives their own party or group and it's deceptive, and when Jan Brewer and republicans turned against the principles of the Republican Party, that's why we came up with the T-shirts."

He points out the governor's recent victory in expanding Arizona's Medicaid, basically embracing ObamaCare -- the same ObamaCare she opposed.

He also cited Brewer's recent support for immigrations reform.

"Sticking her finger in his nose was just a distraction to paint her as a conservative governor."

We asked the governor what she thought about the backstabbing shirts. She laughed.

"Well if people want to waste their money, buy one I guess. I'm not buying one for sure," Brewer said.

"She sure wasted a lot of our money on other things. I'd rather waste my money on a T-shirt," retorts Score.

Governor Brewer did surprise many in her party when she decided to push for Medicare expansion, but she says the decision was the right thing to do after it was clear ObamaCare wasn't going away.

And she now supports the plan that would grant citizenship to millions in the country illegally -- but only after a surge in border security, as she explained on Fox News this Sunday.

"I think that's a priority. That has to be a priority for all of us in the United States, that our border is secured," Brewer said.

But those explanations are not enough for Score.

"She's not a republican. She can call herself that but if I call meat cow meat and it's horse meat you're not going to eat it."
