COCOA, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

From the bottom of his combat boots to the top of his shaved head, 65-year-old Eugene Storley says he still dresses and feels like a U.S. Marine.

"They are going to bury me in these boots," he told us.  "You know, I gotta protect the public."

And that's what he says he did on Monday, when an accused bank robber, disguised in a hard hat and dust mask, walked into a Wells Fargo bank on U.S. Highway 1 and pointed a gun at the bank teller who was next to Storley.

"You could see he was really scared.  He was scared."

The suspect is described as 6 feet, 4 inches tall and weighs over 200 pounds.  Eugene is about 5 feet, 7 inches tall and 190 pounds.  The suspect was also armed, and Eugene was not.  But that didn't stop him.

"I figured if he had to shoot me, he'd shoot me."

A bank surveillance photograph captured what happened next: Storley grabbed the gunman's arm.

"So I grabbed him like this here, came around him like this here, and he turned around and shoved me back," says Eugene.   "He was gone, before I could jump on him again. He was like lightning."

Cocoa police say they quickly caught up to 43-year-old Edward Sotelo, the accused robber, in the woods across the street.  While police were handcuffing the suspect, the bank teller was thanking Eugene for saving his life.

"As a matter of fact, the guy hugged me, and wouldn't let me go," says Eugene.
