Boaters descend on Gull Island for Jobbie Nooner

CLAY TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Thousands of boaters on Friday made their journey to a small island on Lake St. Clair for the yearly, adults only summer celebration known as Jobbie Nooner.

The party takes place at Gull Island in the Muscamoot Bay area of Lake St. Clair near Harsens Island and has developed a reputation for its scantily clad crowd and excessive drinking.

The New Baltimore Voice newspaper reports Jobbie Nooner started in the 80s by autoworkers who took a skip day at noon and headed out to the lake to party.

It typically attracts up to 5,000 boaters.
