CLINTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say a four-year-old boy was killed as he was crossing Groesbeck Highway in Clinton Township around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

A 24-year-old Fraser woman was traveling southbound on Groesbeck Highway north of Metro Parkway. Noticing a young child in the 7-11 parking lot, she started braking. While focusing on that child, she felt an impact as she hit a second child already in the roadway. The driver immediately stopped.

Police say they don't believe drugs or alcohol were a factor, but an investigation is ongoing.

Identities of the driver and child haven't been released at this time.

Clinton Township Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact them at 586-493-7933 or 586-493-7911.
