TROY, Mich. (WJBK) -

Police say two people have died after the car they were riding in was hit by a semi-truck on a freeway in suburban Detroit.

The crash closed northbound Interstate 75 at Big Beaver in Troy for hours Monday, sparking a fire that burned the vehicles.

Police say the truck driver was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Crews remain at the scene. The did, however, reopen around 7 a.m.

The victims identities have not been released.
