Man fatally shot in parking lot of Detroit bank

DETROIT (WJBK) -

Police say a 33-year-old man was fatally shot in the parking lot a bank on the city's west side Monday morning.

A woman who stopped to use the ATM at the Comerica Bank branch on Outer Driver and Grand River around 5 a.m. heard music blaring from a burgundy Monte Carlo and looked inside to find the victim hunched over the steering wheel.

The man, whose name has not been released, suffered a gunshot wound to the neck, police say.

The shooting's motive is still under investigation, but police say the victim did have a large sum of cash still in his pockets.

Police say no suspects are in custody.

The shooting comes on the morning of Police Chief James Craig's first day on the job.
