Philadelphia Launches PHLwelcomesU

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The city of Philadelphia has launched "PHL welcomes U."

And the first graduates were honored today.

"PHL welcomes U" is a free online, educational program where anyone can get tips for making good impressions on guests to the city.

The course has six modules that teach participants a variety of skills like how to make a good impression, how to communicate with visitors, and how to anticipate what visitors of different generations want to see in Philly. Once completed and tested, participants will earn the designation of Certified Hospitality Professional (CHP).

"It gives us the opportunity to really put Philadelphia out there to everyone and learn every way we can to connect with the people, and I think that's great," says Beth Anne Berkowski, a graduate of "PHL welcomes U."

"PHL welcomes U" also includes ways to make Philly a better place to live.
