Tempe Police say they arrested an ASU instructor for exposing himself in a park restroom to one of their officers.

FOX 10 went to his house and called him, but Sunday night there was no response from him about the allegations.

People at the park were surprised to hear something like that happened in the family-oriented place.

Michael Cenerini was arrested for indecent exposure at Papago Park.

Tempe Police say the ASU faculty associate exposed himself to a Tempe Police officer in the park restroom.

Police say the 53-year-old showed himself to the non-uniformed officer several times.

The officer then reported it to other officers and later that day Denerini was pulled over and arrested.

Shirley Johnson visited the park from Illinois and heard about the arrest.

"I've got my nephew with me, people bring their children up here and that's not the kinds of things you want them exposed to," said Johnson.

ASU officials say Cenerini taught one online course in the spring and summer for the College of Nursing and Healthcare Innovation and since the arrest, he's no longer employed with the school.

"University people work with adults. I think it would be a lot different if it was a teacher working with children, but it's still kind of strange," said Johnson.

Cenerini was charged with public sexual indecency and faces up to six months in jail.
