7 hurt in Chicago shootings since Tuesday night

Seven men were wounded in shootings across the city since Tuesday night.

Most recently, two 26-year-old men were shot in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, police said.

The two were shot about 3:30 a.m. in the 7000 block of South Emerald Avenue, police said. One man was shot in the leg and taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, while the other suffered a graze wound to the head and was treated at St. Bernard Hospital. Both men were listed in "stable" condition, police said.

About a half hour earlier, two men were wounded in a shooting on the West Side.

A 24-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the upper back while another man was shot multiple times in the torso in the 4200 block of West Van Buren Street. Both were in serious condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, police said.

The shooting may have been gang-related.

Late Tuesday, a 37-year-old man was shot in the 5200 block of South Maplewood Avenue.

He was standing on the sidewalk with several other people about 11:30 p.m. when an unknown male walked up, yelled gang slogans, and opened fire, police said. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in "stable" condition.

About 8:40 p.m., a 21-year-old man was shot in the shoulder in the 5700 block of South Carpenter Street. He was taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County in serious condition, police said.

An hour earlier, a 20-year-old man was shot in the left arm and thigh in the 5100 block of South Hermitage Avenue. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in "stable" condition, police said.
