HGTV's Meg Caswell Brings on the Block Party - Put A Pin In It!

Posted: Updated:

HGTV sweetheart Meg Caswell brought her amazing DIY ideas that covered all the bases for a successful summer block party. She thought of everything including signage, décor, and (some might say most importantly) food presentation.

  • First thing to do Meg says,  set the theme of your block party by painting a drop cloth with the theme name i.e. Rock Around The Block, and stringing it between two trees on the street.
  • You can also stencil drop cloths with the theme colors to be used as tablecloths that match the party's theme.
  • Meg's tip is to purchase burlap to create your own sacks. Incorporate the neighborhood kids so they can each decorate their own sack before racing against each other.
  • An inexpensive, and festive idea for lighting,  buckets filled with sand and candles to be used to line the street and transition the party from day to night
  • Tikki torches purchased from the dollar store can also be decorated in colors related to your theme to enhance the after hours appeal.
  • Meg created her kabob display utilizing a Styrofoam board. This can be re-used for years to come and is as easy, as it is inexpensive.
  • Meg's DIY s'mores bar is sure to be the hit of any outdoor event. Check out her tips on how to build your own.

Sutter Zachman had his first record deal when he was barely out of his teens. You may have seen the Orange County native was on stage at the Largo and other hot clubs around LA. He then left town...after what he called a few "bouts" with the music business, but now he is back with a new EP called ‘Repeat Offender.'
