Comptroller candidate Eliot Spitzer is criticizing the campaign strategy of mayoral hopeful Anthony Weiner, according to the Daily News.
Spitzer campaign spokeswoman Lisa Linden in the report said Weiner’s decision to use his wife, Huma Abedin to deflect comments about his sexting habits, is a mistake.
During a press conference last Tuesday after new explicit messages were revealed, Abedin announced she has forgiven Weiner and suggested voters to do the same. Weiner’s candidacy for mayor is his first since he resigned from Congress in June 2011 for sending sexually explicit photos and messages and then lying about it.
Spitzer’s wife Silda Wall, has not been seen with him since he announced his candidacy for Comptroller two weeks ago. Spitzer’s campaign marks his return to politics after he was forced to resign as governor in 2008 for using prostitutes.
