Program Combats Hospital Staff's Stress Using Adoptable Dogs

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

Petting a pooch to melt the stress away, that's the idea behind a new program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.

The SPCA brought three dogs to the hospital today, not to spend time with patients, but to comfort the staff.

The program is designed to reduce workplace anxiety and stress sometimes felt by doctors, nurses and other staff who care for patients.

The animals are also up for adoption.

This is the second visit by the SPCA to HUP through the program.
