Flagstaff ties record set in 1919 for wettest July

Posted: Updated:

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - It was wet and wet and more wet in Flagstaff in July.

The National Weather Service says Flagstaff tied its record for the most precipitation during the month with 7.58 inches of July rainfall.

That ties the record set in 1919.

Flagstaff's rainfall is measured at Flagstaff Pulliam Airport.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports that the July tally didn't come close to Flagstaff's all-time wettest month in Flagstaff.

That was February of 1993 when the city had 10.05 inches of precipitation.

And Flagstaff's wettest monsoon month was in August 1904, with 8.77 inches.

The Flagstaff area has seen extensive flooding as a result of runoff from July rainfall.
