PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix woman accused of child abuse in the death of her severely malnourished 15-month-old daughter has pleaded not guilty in the case.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 38-year-old Denise Janelle Snow-Ingram entered her plea Thursday. She's due back in court Sept. 12.

Police arrested Snow-Ingram and her 38-year-old husband Ernest Ingram on July 10 after responding to an emergency call about a child not breathing.

The infant later died at a hospital.

Police say the parents told them the child hadn't seen a doctor since birth due to their religious beliefs.

They say the girl weighed under 9 pounds and suffered from "profound malnutrition" along with numerous bone fractures.

Ernest Ingram pleaded not guilty in the case Monday.

The couple's other six children have been placed in temporary foster care.
