New Maple Leaf Dave Bolland brings Stanley Cup to Toronto

Posted: Updated:

TORONTO (AP) -- The Stanley Cup is in Toronto -- thanks to Dave Bolland, a Blackhawk turned Maple Leaf.

Bolland grew up in Toronto and brought the cup to a children's hospital in London, Ontario, earlier in the day before heading to a hockey arena to greet fans.

He wore a blue T-shirt instead of a Leafs jersey while riding atop an antique firetruck as a bagpipe procession led the parade through the city's west end. Police estimated the crowd at 3,000.

Fans wore Chicago Blackhawks colors and Maple Leafs jerseys. Toronto Mayor Rob Ford was there and said the day boosted the morale of Maple Leaf fans.

Bolland scored the winning goal for Chicago with just less than a minute left in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup final. He was acquired by Toronto in a trade at the NHL draft.
