FERNDALE, Mich. (WJBK) -

After just a few months away, Drew Lane is back on the air in Detroit minus his longtime partner Mike Clark.

Lane is the drive time host from 3 to 7 p.m. on the new sports station in town, ESPN affiliate Detroit Sports 105.1.

"This is a really exciting day for me. I'm really nervous, which is weird. Being in front of a microphone, I usually don't feel that way, but I'm just excited as hell," Lane said at a news conference Monday.

This is a different format from his days at Riff, but he said his longtime fans will have nothing to worry about.

"We'll be doing more than sports, though, and that's why I'm calling it 'Sports and More' because the people that used to listen to our show, I think some are probably going I don't want four hours of just sports. It won't be just sports," Lane said.

As for those drops that have been so popular for so long, "that was one of the first things we talked about was are the drops safe? And the drops are safe," Lane said.

"We want Drew to talk sports. We are Detroit Sports 105.1, but we also want Drew to be Drew," said Program Director Jason Dixon.

Fox 2's Ryan Ermanni will also be co-hosting a show with Rico Beard on Detroit Sports 105.1 from 12 to 3 p.m.
