LOS ANGELES -

Veteran actor Dick Van Dyke was pulled from a smoldering car just before it burst into flames.

He was driving in his Jaguar on the 101 freeway in Los Angeles today. The 87 year old says he pulled over when he heard a noise. A group of motorists saw him slumped over in the smoking car and pulled him out.

Van Dyke says he didn't pass out, but was bent over trying to use his cell phone to call for help. Van Dyke wasn't injured, but his Jaguar was destroyed by the subsequent flames.

Dick Van Dyke is an Emmy winning, Grammy winning, and tony winning actor and performer. He is best remembered for playing Albert Peterson in "Bye Bye Birdie" and Bert in "Mary Poppins." The Dick Van Dyke show that he starred in was well-received and ran for 158 episodes in the 1960s.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
