Parents of tourist hit by taxi thank Dr. Oz, bystanders, EMTs

The parents of a British tourist who lost a leg when a taxi cab jumped a curb and slammed into her in Midtown Manhattan on Tuesday are thanking everyone who helped their daughter.

Jason and Sonia Green flew into New York to be with their injured daughter, Sian Green. They issued a statement through Bellevue Medical Center on Thursday.

"There are not enough words to express our gratitude to everyone who has helped our family during this difficult time," the said in the statement.

They specifically thanked Dr. Mehmet Oz, host of "The Doctor Oz Show," and plumber David Justino, who jumped into action when Sian was hurt. Justino used his belt as a tourniquet to help stop the bleeding from Sian's wound. Dr. Oz, who has an office nearby, saw the commotion outside Rockefeller Center and quickly went to the scene to help Justino and the medics who responded.

The Greens also thanked those medics, the police, and the staff at the Bellevue.

"Everyone we have come into contact with at the hospital has been more than helpful in ensuring our daughter is being well taken care of," they said. "The New York Police Department, who have been at the hospital the entire time helping us."

They also thanked the staff at British Airways, their hotel, their friends and family, and "all the people of New York City and beyond who we don't know and have sent well wishes to our family."

Sian's condition has not been made public, but she was being cared for in the intensive care unit.

"We hope Sian will soon be on her way to recovery and will be able to personally thank all the kind people of New York City," the Greens said in the statement.

The NYPD issued a summons to the driver of the taxi as well as the vehicle's owner, but are still investigating.

A little bit of money, power and fame can unlock a whole world of hidden passageways and detours allowing stars to come and go discreetly. Seth Weisser has perfected private shopping inside his Soho vintage boutique What Goes Around Comes Around. Celebs slip in through the side door and descend into the vault. But the upper floor isn't too shabby either, featuring hundreds of rare Chanel and Hermes handbags.
