Two men from opposites ends of the world have now found themselves locked in a friendship likely to last for the rest of their lives.

Lanny Martinson, who now lives in Texas, was a US marine serving his country in Vietnam. He was in Khe Sahn, forty five years ago, on June fourth when he was badly injured.

"When I got wounded, it ended up there was four dead and twelve wounded...so it was not a pleasant thing," Martinson recalls.

Martinson's dog tags were lost in Khe Sahn.

That is until Australian native, John Naismith, took a trip to Vietnam in 2011. Naismith says the trip unveiled a long lost treasure.

"And saw something shining in the dirt. It was half in the ground and a little bit out...low and behold it was a US Marine's dog tags," Naismith says. "I just thought maybe I can find him and post it back to him in the mail..."

"We started off e-mailing each other backwards and forwards and then we finally made the first phone call," Naismith says.

"They ask if my name was LP Martinson and I said yes it is, and he said I have something of yours," Martinson recalls.

The two finally met after a years long campaign on social media using Facebook. Naismith was able to track down Martinson. And with the help of a Vietnam Veterans Motorcycle Club in California, the two met in Texas.

"It's very overwhelming...I had to have a little alone time," says Martinson.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
