Friday Gets Off To Chilly Start

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

If you're heading out early this morning, you may want to grab a jacket or a sweater before you walk out the door, and you'll be glad did you.

With temperatures not making it to 80 degrees, we are calling it sweater weather, FOX 29's Sue Serio says.

Before the sun rose, the temperature was 40 degrees in Mount Pocono and 49 in Allentown. That is a chilly wait for the bus.

Even in Philadelphia, it was 58 degrees. We were at 55 in Wildwood and 51 in Lancaster.

So, there are lots of chilly temperatures around, and it has been a cool change over the last five days. Remember, Sunday when it was 89 degrees and it really was so humid it felt like the 90s? It was 82 on Labor Day but so hot and humid, and we had all those then are storms and we've had highs in the 80s all week.

The 24-hour temperature difference was 8 degrees cooler in Philadelphia, 20 degrees cooler in Mount Pocono, and 14 degrees cooler in Wildwood.

Hopefully you have you sweaters and sweat shirts with you, but it will be a beautiful weekend heading to the shore. We know you like to go for those September weekends at the shore.

There's an 8 mph wind out of the north in Philadelphia, where we're heading to a high of 75.

We're calling it a 9 on our "Forecast by the Numbers" scale of 1 to 10. That's cooler than normal, but we'll be back to average for Saturday at 80 degrees, and we'll hit 83 on Sunday. That's a pretty nice weekend.

Those showers don't come until even of the day on Sunday, and it looks like not everybody will get one.

Temperatures dip a little to 77 on Monday. The next chance of rain after that is on Wednesday.

Mike Jerrick and Sheinelle Jones were having some fun with the cool change this morning, as you can tell from some of the pictures. They'll even be giving away some hot chocolate this morning!
