EVANSTON, Ill. (FOX 32 News) -

Patrick's People and Places is on the road! Good Day is looking for interesting people and places that make your neighborhood special. This week, FOX 32 visits Evanston, the beautiful city by the lake.

Our first stop? The Grosse Point Light Station has helped guide mariners up and down the shoreline for years. It is truly a beautiful and majestic piece of architecture. We also visited Fireman's Park, and met the brave Evanston firemen.

Evanston lies 13 miles north of downtown Chicago, and is most well-known for Northwestern University, a prestigious college many aspire to attend. One of the founders, business leader John Evans, also helped establish the community – hence the town's name.

Evanston is accessible by car, boat and public transportation via the CTA Purple Line. It boasts many attributes in the fields of literature, business, religion and political history.

To this day, there are no bars in the town of Evanston, just restaurants that serve alcohol. Among those restaurants are some of the best in the state, serving cuisine from many different parts of the world. Good Day stopped by Sarkis Café on Friday, to speak with residents and find out just how good the food is!

Evanston was also home to a woman who spearheaded the suffrage movement in the area, Frances E. Willard.

But perhaps the best Evanston has to offer are the kids. Good Day Chicago visited Evanston Township High School, where the band, cheerleaders, football team, academic clubs showed just how proud they are of their school and neighborhood.

Where do you think Patrick Elwood should go next week? Do you have a favorite neighborhood or suburb you think he should visit?
