The Meatball Shop, NYC Culinary Fame Comes To LA

Posted: Updated:

Michael Chernow and Daniel Holzman are the co-owners of The Meatball Shop and authors of The Meatball Shop Cookbook. They stopped by the show today because tomorrow Saturday, Sept 7th The Meatball Shop is in LA with a pop-up restaurant at their old pal Roy Choi's restaurant, Sunny Spot, on Venice Beach (822 W. Washington Blvd) from 5:00pm to 2:00am.

There are no reservations (guests will be seated on a first-come, first-serve basis). They will offer signature items from The Meatball Shop's beloved mix-and-match menu of balls, salads and sides and Roy will create his own special ball for the evening. Vans sneakers have designed an extremely limited edition shoe in honor of the pop-up and guests can win pairs throughout the night.

For more information about The Meatball Shop or to purchase the cookbook, you can visit www.themeatballshop.com

Michael and Daniel met as 10-year-old delivery boys working for a vegan restaurant on NYC's Upper East Side and quickly became best friends. Dan attended the Culinary Institute of America on full scholarship from the James Beard Foundation before spending a decade working as a chef on the West Coast. Mike graduated with honors from the French Culinary Institute and spent nine years working behind the bar of legendary East Village restaurant, Frank.

In 2009, Dan returned to NYC to realize his and Mike's childhood dream of opening a restaurant together and in February, 2010, The Meatball Shop debuted with 36 seats on a gritty corner of New York's Lower East Side, instantly becoming an unexpected sensation.
