EL PASO COUNTY, Col. -

Sometimes, it's the little things in life that mean a lot. And sometimes, it's the big things, too.

"Everything -- we lost everything," said Chris Schickler.

He and his dad, Jeff, lost their home to the Black Forest fire in Colorado.

"We didn't get an evacuation notice, we had to get out of there," Schickler said, adding that they got out just in time with their lives. "It definitely didn't hit me until we were up here at the store watching the fire and where it was."

All of their personal belongings went up in smoke. But Schickler's biggest lost was his sports memorabilia from his favorite football team, the Baltimore Ravens.

"When I was a kid, I loved 'em and just kind of went with the flow, and now it ends up being a life-changing experience, where they touched my life," he said.

A neighbor reached out to "Good Day Colorado's" Ken Clark, who with the help of FOX 31 Sports Director Nick Griffith and the Baltimore Ravens football club, reached out to Schickler.

"These guys, who especially don't know me, who are just football players doing their jobs, would just reach out and do something like this, man," Schickler said.

Schickler says this gift is all the motivation he needs to keep on moving every day, Fox's Dan Daru reported.
