CTA Blue Line train service resumes after derailment

CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

CTA Blue Line trains are back on the move Monday afternoon after service was stopped following a morning derailment near the station at O'Hare International Airport.

The northbound Blue Line train was approaching the O'Hare station about 11:30 a.m. when the derailment occurred, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said. There were no reported injuries.

Blue Line service was suspended between O'Hare and Rosemont because of the derailment, with trains are operating only between Forest Park and Rosemont, according to a CTA Rider Alert.

Normal service resumed about 3:40 p.m., Hosinski said.

The 35 passengers aboard the derailed train were placed on bus shuttles, which also carried the passengers between the Rosemont and O'Hare stations. The shuttles would continue to operate until about 4 p.m., she said.
