Cubs to forgo ice skating rink to begin Wrigley renovation

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Bad news for ice skaters: The rink at Wrigley Field won't be opening this winter.

The Chicago Cubs will not set up the rink, so the team can start construction on a renovation project.

The rink has popped up each winter since 2009 in the parking lot west of the ballpark.

There is good news though. The Cubs plan to build a permanent park that will eventually be used for a new ice rink.
