Bashara's ex-girlfriend continues testimony on BDSM relationship

Posted: Updated:
DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Witness testimony continues from Bob Bashara's ex-girlfriend, Rachel Gillett, Thursday in a preliminary hearing to determine if there's enough evidence to charge Bob for first-degree murder of his wife, Jane.

Gillett first took the stand Wednesday but was interrupted by an ordered court evacuation due to a power outage in the building.

Gillett continued to detail the relationship she had with Bob on Thursday. She says the relationship "started with lies and there have been lies all through it."

Gillett says when the two first met on alt.com, Bob told her he was a widower and the two entered into a BDSM relationship. Gillett confirmed to the judge Bob referred to himself as her "Master," and that she was his "Slave" throughout their relationship

Gillett says Bob kept promising he would leave and divorce his wife, Jane, but when that didn't happen Gillett tried multiple times to break things off with him.

She says Bob would get emotional and made ending things very difficult. She testified he even called her children once and gave her a promise ring, which was a family heirloom meant to be in Jane's possession.

The summer before Jane's death, Gillett says Bob revealed to her that he was actually divorced. Believing him, she agreed to look for a house with him to purchase together. However, months later, Gillett received the news of, first, Jane's disappearance then of her death. At this point, Gillett had been in a relationship with Bob for more than three years.

Gillett says Bob invited her to the family's home after the news broke, but she declined. Bob then extended her an invitation to attend a candlelight vigil for Jane, which she did accept and attend.
