PONTIAC, Mich. (AP) -

An 8-year-old boy vividly describes to a 911 dispatcher the armed robbery of his mother in their Pontiac apartment.

The boy is heard in the call from a neighbor's home saying "a dude ... with a gun" was at his home and told his "mama to lay down."

When the dispatcher asked the boy his age, he says he's 8 and that he's "still short." Authorities released the call Thursday.

The Oakland County sheriff's department says the call came in about 2 a.m. Tuesday and that two men forced the boy's mother to the floor at gunpoint. Three other children were inside the apartment, north of Detroit.

The boy's mother tells police the men demanded money and went through her purse and kitchen cabinets.

Police say they haven't arrested anyone.
