NJ High School Students Adopt Pig; Pig Flees

SWEDESBORO, N.J. -

The call for a missing pig named Dubbsy can be heard all over Swedesboro and Woolwich, New Jersey.

"When I looked out and saw the pig, I was surprised. I figured I'm out in the country," says Ron Mintz of Woolwich.

Ron Mintz took some pictures of the pork chopper in his backyard, one of many places that the pig has been spotted in the area.

"He got about 5 feet away," says Mintz, "some of the construction workers in the neighborhood scared him off and he hightailed it … as fast as he could."

The roaming pink piglet isn't as famous as Porky, Miss Piggy or Wilbur, but:

"He's the most famous pig I know personally," says Mintz

He's getting up there in Facebook likes and he's now referred to online as Kevin Bacon. He's, perhaps, six degrees of separation from the real Kevin Bacon, who's from Philly.

"He's a cute pig. I fell in love with him as soon as I saw pictures of him," says Greg Jones, who made the Facebook page.

Greg Jones hasn't come face to face with Kevin Bacon, but made the fan page so people can get a good look at him,

"We're trying to find this guy," he tells FOX 29's Leigh Scheps.

The pig was supposed to be a class pet for Kingsway Regional High School. Shane Murray and his friends came up with the idea since they couldn't get their hands on a dragon, the school's mascot. They named him Dubbsy after assistant principal Edward Dubbs.

"Make it kind of a joke around school with the seniors," says Murray. "About 15 minutes after we put it in its pen, it jumped the fence and it hasn't been caught since. I think it's kind of funny, but I want him back as soon as possible to make sure he's not hurt.

People in this community want this little piggy to come wee wee wee all the way home in time for Swedesboro-Woolwich Day at the end of the month so he can be a big part of the celebration.

That's all folks!
