NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

The ASPCA in New York City is kicking off the first official week of fall with a special pet adoption event. The society is offering special pricing discounts and giveaways from September 22 through September 29.

These are the five promotions offered during the adoption event:

1. Adoption fee waived for animals older than 8 months

2. Free pet food samples, travel bowls and food-can lids (while supplies last) from HALO Foundation

3. Free spaying/neutering, vaccinations, and microchip

4. Free ID tag, collar and leash for dogs; free ID tag, collar and cardboard carrier for cats

5. Certificate for a free vet visit within two weeks of adoption at ASPCA Animal Hospital

"The ASPCA is hoping that potential adopters will Fall in Love this week with one of our amazing animals who are looking for a home," said Gail Buchwald, senior vice president of the adoption center. "The weather is perfect this time of year for outside activities for dogs, and there aren't the holidays that come with lots of parties which can be stressful for everyone, including the animals."

If you are interested in adopting a cat or dog, go to the ASPCA Adoption Center at 424 East 92nd Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan from Sunday, September 22, through Sunday, September 29.

Things are looking up for cute little Cami King. Not only is her cancer in remission, she also just got to meet Mickey, Minnie and Elmo in Times Square. But, if you can believe it, there's something else this 4-year-old is even more excited about: Times Square is going gold. The chairman of the Times Square Advertising Coalition announced the crossroads of the world is going to light up in gold to raise awareness for pediatric cancer research.
