Eden Prairie police found a woman and a man dead Saturday after a shooting at Eden Place Apartments, prompting an evacuation of the building that lasted several hours.
A 911 call was placed at 7:15 a.m. after gunshots were heard inside an apartment at 8680 Magnolia Trail, but responding officers were unable to get a response from the occupants of the unit.
As a result, the Eden Prairie Emergency Response Unit was called to make entry. Meanwhile, officers went door-to-door to evacuate the other 63 units as a precaution. Residents have since been allowed to return home.
Police found a woman's body in the apartment late Saturday morning and later used a Bloomington bomb squad robot to find a man's body. They also located weapons, Bengtson said, but added that she couldn't confirm what type.
Investigators weren't immediately able to say whether the deaths were a murder-suicide or double-homicide, police spokeswoman Katie Bengtson said; however, authorities are not currently looking for suspects.
The identities of the two people and the cause of death will be released through the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office.
