DETROIT, Mich. (WJBK) -

Detroit police are searching for two gunmen who tried to rob an armored car and even fired a shot.

It happened Saturday around 11:30 a.m., as the armored car employee left a Sunoco Gas Station on the 12 thousand block of Schaefer. Two men approached the vehicle and announced a hold up. The security officer was able to deposit the money bag into a safe to prevent it from being stolen. One suspect fired a shot at the security officer who took cover.

Both suspects escaped in a dark colored Dodge Caravan, last seen headed south bound on Schaefer towards I-96. The suspects are considered armed and dangerous.

Here are the descriptions provided to Fox 2 by Detroit PD:

Suspect #2: Black Male, 30's, 5-, 8", 165 lbs, medium brown complexion, large build, wearing a black baseball cap with blue hoodie with the word "baller" across the front.
