According to the Department of Defense, three soldiers died on September 21st after their unit was attacked by enemy forces in Gardez, Afghanistan. Among the casualties were Staff Sergeant Liam Nevins, 32, who went to school in Bristol.

According to authorities, Nevins and his unit came under fire when a man dressed in an Afghan soldier's uniform opened fire on them. The event happened inside the army base in Gardez, according to security officials. Officials also say that 11 foreign soldiers have been killed in such attacks this year in Afghanistan.

Nevins died, along with Staff Sergeant Timothy McGill and Specialist Joshua Strickland. Nevins was on his fourth combat deployment. He graduated from Bristol Borough High School in 2000. He was studying to get his Bachelor's of Science at Metropolitan State College of Denver.

The Colorado National Guard, which Nevins was serving, released a statement saying that he was a "respected and admired member." Nevins previously received a Purple Heart for an injury.

Nevins was engaged and leaves behind his family and his fiancée.

    NICE EASTER WEEKEND

The first half of the holiday weekend has been great and Easter Sunday looks just as nice. Clouds thin out late tonight with temperatures falling back to the 40s.

Initially it'll be jacket weather early Sunday morning but plenty of sunshine will warm us into the 60s by afternoon.  High temperatures will be a few degrees cooler than Saturday.

It will be noticeably cooler and breezy at the shore with highs in the low 50s.  Quiet conditions continue into Monday.
