90-Year-Old Couple Shows Love Has No Age Limits

Posted: Updated:

Love has no age limit as a couple both in their nineties just got married in Washington.

93-year-old Andy Nilles and 96-year-old Gladys Salley got hitched on Friday.

Salley was a widow for seventeen years. She said at no time did she think she would get married again, but now she is happy to have someone there for her when she feels lonely.

"He is a romantic," Salley said of about her feelings toward her new husband.

"Butterflies and the fact that I really didn't sleep here much last night, I've been a widow for 17 years."

"She won out. Haha," Nilles said.

The two met through apartment manager, Betty Handly, who asked Andy to give Gladys a ride, and the couple has been together ever since.

"I actually introduced Gladys and Andy because she didn't have a ride somewhere, and I said, 'well, I bet Andy will do it,' Handly said.

"There were a lot of 'em after me, I'll have to admit that," Nille said. "My phone takes the same charger as hers does, and hers is from clear back in Louisiana, and mine is out here, so we figured that the phones got together, we just will get together."

Salley recalls the picturesque moment of their engagement. "He said 'I can't kneel down, I can't get back up. Haha," Salley said.

Nilles said, "I might've made it down, but I never got back up without help."

"Well, we didn't see the wedding coming. But we certainly saw the courtship developing." Handly said. "All of a sudden they were holding hands, she had her walker, he had his cane, and pretty soon they didn't have either one, they just had each other. Haha."

Salley is looking forward to having her significant other close by. "It will mean when you wake up at night, and you're feeling kind of sad, or alone, you can reach over and hold their hand."

The new couple tied the knot at Cock-A-Doodle Doughnuts in Port Angeles.
