CHICAGO (Sun-Times Media Wire) -

A man attempted to abduct a teenage girl Friday in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

The suspect was driving a black Nissan when he honked his horn and called to a 14-year-old girl walking to a store at the corner of Madison Street and Central Avenue at 9:30 a.m., according to an alert from Area North detectives.

The man then followed the girl into the store and spoke to her again outside, the alert said.

When the girl tried to walk away, the suspect pulled on her arm, the alert said. She broke free and the man fled in his car.

The suspect is described as a black man in his mid 20s, 5-feet-5, 170 pounds with a short neatly trimmed beard, the alert said.
