Diana Nyad, the 64-year-old endurance swimmer who swam 110 miles from Cuba to Key West in 53 hours, spoke to Mike and Sheinelle on Good Day.
What was going through Nyad's head as she swam those 110 miles? "You are counting, singing songs, I have a play list of 85 songs going through my veins: Bob Dylan, Beatles and all that. And after a while, you are not thinking, You are just on the meaning of the universe."
Nyad, a New York native, announced that she is going to do a 48-hour swim in Herald Square next month to raise money for AmeriCares and Hurricane Sandy victims. Some Sandy victims are still without relief a year later. Broadway stars and Giants players will join her in the swim to raise as much money as possible.
