Governor Christie ordered flags to fly at half-staff today to honor United States Army Staff Sergeant Timothy R. McGill, a resident of Ramsey, NJ.
Staff Sgt. McGill, 30, served in Iraq and Afghanistan. He died in an ambush in Afghanistan on September 21st. He was one of three soldiers killed.
McGill joined the Military straight out of high school in 2001 to serve his country. He qualified as a Special Forces soldier in 2011.
"Staff Sergeant McGill was an honorable and courageous young man who loved his country and the military..." Christie said.
Hundreds lined Main Street in Ramsey on Monday to say goodbye to the casket of McGill. McGill is the third soldier killed from Ramsey in the last three years.
Once again we need to bundle up and watch for icy patches on roads and sidewalks.
The cold stays with us for a few more days. Today's high is in the upper 20s; tomorrow, high around freezing.
Looks like another storm system moving in to start the weekend. This one will likely bring a mix of snow, sleet, and rain. Stay tuned.
