Half of all children with autism wander, according to Autism Speaks. So many parents are attaching GPS devices to their special needs child to keep them safe.

There are plenty of options for digital monitoring. Some parents choose to tuck a tracking device in a child's backpack, and one GPS system is a backpack. Some use a GPS watch, or you can attach a chip to a belt or clothing.

Location Based Technologies makes the Pocket Finder. It's the size of an Oreo cookie.

Keeping your child on the grid with one of these gadgets will cost between $30 and $200 plus a monthly service fee from a provider.

Autism Speaks tells parents to teach their children with autism to swim at a young age. For parents of children with autism it can be scary but there are many resources and gadgets available for keeping autistic kids from becoming victims.
