MEDFORD, N.Y. (AP) -- An intoxicated driver has been arrested after going the wrong way down the Long Island Expressway, police said. Eastbound vehicles were forced to swerve out of the way. But Suffolk County police said no collisions happened.

A highway patrol officer stopped and arrested Warren Levine, 62, of Medford, at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday near Route 112 in Medford.

Authorities charged Levine with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.

He was expected to be arraigned on Thursday. The name of his attorney was not immediately known.
