CHOP Celebrates 'Spirit of Children'

Posted: Updated:
PHILADELPHIA -

The Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP) hosted the Spirit Halloween's Spirit of Children program today.

The event featured pumpkin painting, arts and crafts and a variety of other fun holiday-themed activities for kids and their adult guardians. Kids at CHOP got to take a break from their routine and spend some time with fellow kids and feel the festive atmosphere of the upcoming Halloween holiday.

Spirit Halloween is the largest seasonal retailer in North America. They've brought festivities to partnering pediatric hospitals since 2006 to make hospitals less scary for kids. They also raise money to fund hospitals and provide them with resources for toys, games, playrooms, music and art therapies for kids. Their goal is to raise $5 million for the 2013 year so that their total contribution will be $16 million.

FOX 29's Kelly Hessedal joined the festivities for a little bit today. She took some pictures with the kids.
