Community board shoots down rapper street naming

Posted: Updated:
NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) - Plans to rename a street corner in Brooklyn after the late rapper Notorious B.I.G. have been shot down by the local community board.

'Biggie Smalls' whose real name is Christopher Wallace grew up in Clinton Hill and was murdered in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in 1997.

A proposal to name St. James Place and Fulton St. 'Christopher Wallace Way' was nixed by Community Board 2 earlier this week.

Critics say the famous rapper is a bad role model for children. He was obese and was arrested several times on drugs and weapons charges.

The proposal could go forward if City Councilwoman and Public Advocate candidate Letitia James issues a letter of support.
