CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Chicago police put out a community alert about a sexual assault in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood.

The victim was a 14-year-old girl who was attacked while walking to a bus stop to go to school Tuesday morning near the 8700-block of South Halsted.

Investigators say a man walked up, asked the girl for change, then grabbed her and dragged her behind an abandoned building.

The attacker is described as being about 19 years old, African-American, 5' 7'' with a husky build, a dark complexion, and fingernails that are severely bitten down -- all the way to the skin.

If you have any information about this incident, please call Area South Detective Division at (312) 747-8271 or send tips to AREA2TIP@chicagopolice.org.
