Wheelchairs For Paralyzed Dogs

Posted: Updated:

Call it man to the rescue of man's best friend. Four dogs who are paralyzed are now mobile thanks to modern technology. They were fitted with their very own wheelchairs. Saving K9 Lives Plus says, that also means these rescues are more likely to find forever homes.

The dogs are at a vet in South Central L. A., a low cost clinic with tons of passion led by Dr. Joy Anderson. Many of the animals had likely been hit by cars and left behind by their owners. The manager of Pet Care Veterinary Center, Alex Kyrklund, said some owners couldn't care for an animal in such need, others couldn't afford the medical care, yet another just never returned for his dog, Chewy. The animal rescue world stepped in to not only save them from being euthanized but to also give them a better quality of life.

Jasmine and Bobby Kimball helped found Saving K9 Lives Plus. Jasmine got the $300 wheelchairs donated by K9 Carts. Jasmine slipped each dog into its little apparatus and then gently placed each on the ground. Chewy hadn't walked in a year. The little dog seemed happy as she found her footing and was eventually eagerly trotting down the hallway and mixing it up with her furry friends.

Saving K9 Lives Plus taps into LA's star power to fundraise. Bobby Kimball is the lead singer of Toto and the group recently held its music benefit.

All four dogs are waiting to be adopted. For information contact: info@thepetcarecenter.org.
