NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City mayoral hopeful Bill de Blasio is set to announce that his campaign has raised $3.7 million over the last three weeks.
That's according to a campaign staffer for de Blasio, the Democrat nominee. The person is not authorized to publicly discuss fundraising and therefore spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity.
De Blasio's total dwarfs the approximately $700,000 raised during the same period by his Republican rival Joe Lhota.
Lhota's total was also revealed by a campaign staffer not authorized to discuss fundraising.
About $1 million of de Blasio's total was raised in a single event, a fundraiser with former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.
The Democratic staffer says de Blasio now has more than $1.25 million cash on hand. Lhota's was not available.
