Packard Plant sale delayed again as second-place bidder misses deadline

The Packard Plant sale is delayed again as William "Bill" Hults has missed a Tuesday deadline to pay a second nonrefundable deposit.

The Chicago-area developer has already paid $100,000 in nonrefundable deposit funds. The remaining portion of his bid, approximately $1.9 million dollars, was due Monday, but Hults requested an extension to come up with the funds.

Wayne County granted him the extension on the condition he pay another deposit of $300,000.

That is the deadline Hults has now missed. Fox 2 is told Hults has requested a meeting to discuss the status of his bid later to happen later Tuesday or Wednesday.

If the transaction continues and is completed he hopes to turn the 3,500 acre site into a commercial, housing and entertainment complex.
